Cheltenham Sign Connor Goldson

28 November 2013

Shrewsbury Town defender Connor Goldson has today joined the Robins on loan.

Shrewsbury's promising defender Connor Goldson has boosted Cheltenham Town defensive options today after agreeing a loan switch.

Both Cheltenham and Shrewsbury Town have agreed an emergency loan switch which will run until January 4th.

Goldson emerged through the youth ranks at the Greenhous Meadow and has recently signed a new contract with the club. He made his professional debut in a 5-1 win away at Lincoln in February 2011 and he registered his first goal against Portsmouth last season.

To date, Connor has made 45 appearances for the Shrews in all competitions and arrives at the Abbey Business Stadium looking to continue his Football League education.

"Connor is a very good defender," said Cheltenham chief Mark Yates.

"He is big, strong and mobile. We are lacking in numbers in defence so he will certainly bolster our options."

Connor, 20, has been handed squad number 15 by Mark Yates and the 6'4" defender will be available for selection this weekend as the Robins travel to Southend United's Roots Hall. You can also follow Connor on Twitter by searching for the following handle: @ConnorGoldson.
