Cheltenham Town were defeated 1-0 by Northampton as their hopes for promotion were finally ended.

The Robins trailed 1-0 on aggregate and started very well with immediate pressure on the Northampton goal. They were given a golden opportunity to level proceedings up when Russ Penn was felled on the edge of the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Marlon Pack stepped up but his penalty was well saved and the Cobblers breathe a sigh of relief.

Cheltenham continued to push but a stunning strike from Luke Guttridge put the visitors 1-0 up leaving Mark Yates' side with a mountain to climb. Despite that they continued to press and Kaid Mohamed was unlucky not to have hit the back of the net when his thunderous header crashed off the crossbar. Several saves from Lee Nicholls maintained Northampton's lead and they celebrated reaching Wembley on full time.
