Terry Up For Award Again

21 March 2013

Groudsman Terry Roberts is up for the groundsman of the year award once again.

Head Groundsman Terry Roberts has been shortlisted for League Two groundsman of the year once again.

Terry won the award last season and he has be recognised once again this year for his efforts of the Abbey Business Stadium pitch. This is the fourth time he has been nominated in the last five seasons which is only made all the more remarkable considering the pitch has already had well over 50 games on it this term.

The impact of Gloucester City and reserve matches has made life tougher for Terry over the past few seasons but he is proud to have been shortlisted for the award once again.

"It's an honour obviously and I'm always happy to be recognised," said Terry.

"They came to inspect it back in February and it was in better condition then but they take all information into account when making their final decision including the amount of games it has had on it and the weather. It has been very tough this year because the weather has been terrible and obviously the amount of usage on it this season plays a significant role.

"Out of a rating of 5, I think we were at 4.3 or 4.4 which his pleasing but there are many good pitches in League Two and we have a lot to contend with. It is great to be shortlisted again though and it's a nice honour for Matt (Rainey) and I."
