Yates: Good Effort

13 July 2013

Mark Yates pleased with his squad's effort in boiling temperatures this afternoon

Robins chief Mark Yates speaking to the press following today's 2-1 victory at Cirencester Town:

"It was a good workout at the end of a good week and there were two good goals too but we could have had more. There were lots of positives but the second half did get a bit scrappy once we had changed a few things and the game never really got any flow on a sticky pitch.

"Massive credit to both teams who played because it was so hot and it's probably the hottest I have been for a long, long time. They put good effort in to finish a good week off.

"Jamie (Cureton) has had about five half chances today and he makes them himself but it was a great cross from Jermaine and it was a good header because there was still lots to do. He is five foot nothing but his timing is superb and that's what we brought him in for. His awareness of Sam for the second goal was good too. We have to get balls into the box and we have encouraged Jermaine to do that. He can do it and he's decent at it. It's alright having the pace but it's knowing when to cross the ball when the defender drops off you. He has got two assists in the both games now so hopefully he will get better and better for us.

"I thought Danny O'Donnell did well for us and he will be coming to Wales with us. I will be asking Josh Rees and Joe Anyinsah to come to Wales too. I'm not in the position right now to offer them anything but I'll definitely have an answer for them by this time next week. Their attitudes have been brilliant.

"Terry (Gornell) is a good player and I think he compliments what we've already got. Byron and Jamie showed clips of what they can do especially for the second goal with good combination play. Hopefully we'll get some real training into them next week and game time over the coming weeks.

"Nothing will happen before we go to Wales but something could happen during. I'm three short of what I want but I'm just waiting on one thing before I do anything else. I'm waiting on one specific player but I should have my answer by Monday."
