A 2-1 victory over Gloucester City made it three wins from three in pre-season for the Robins this summer.

Mark Yates named a strong side lined up in a diamond formation and it didn't take long before Cheltenham were ahead through Sam Deering after he linked up well with Jamie Cureton, a common theme throughout this fixture. The score was doubled on 20 minutes when Matt Richards produced a curling strike to beat Bittner and make it 2-0.

Mass changes were introduced in the second half and the Robins' performance dropped slightly and this allowed Gloucester to capitalise and grab a consolation goal through lively forward Joe Parker. Positive performances from Ashley Vincent and Zack Kotwica were highlights in the second half but it was the fluidity of the midfield performance in the first half that was the real headline of this fixture.
