The Robins impressed to achieve a 1-1 draw against Premier League new boys Cardiff City.

Mark Yates' Cheltenham side were impressive and started on top when Troy Brown smashed in a corner following a flick on from Steve Elliott. The hosts were good value for their lead but Scott Brown had to be on guard when Craig Bellamy stepped up for a freekick although it proved to be a comfortable save. Kim Bo-Kyung was proving to be Cardiff's best player in the first period and he pulled the scores level with a low drive from the edge of the area.

Cardiff were the side to make the changes at half time and throughout the second half but neither keeper was threatened too much although Scott Brown once again pulled off a stunning save from Andreas Cornelius' freekick. Cheltenham thought they had a winner when Troy Brown headed in for an apparent second but the linesman spoilt the party by raising his flag for offside. The game ended 1-1 which was a fair result in an even match.
