Yates: Big Effort

18 January 2013

Mark Yates praises his players and the fans alike for a big effort all round this evening.

Mark Yates speaking to the media following tonight's 0-0 draw with Morecambe:

"Our fans and a lot of people have made a real effort today to get to meeting points or get off their drives. Well done to them all and it was a well deserved point for all of them today.

"I can see that you're all sat up here shivering and it wasn't nice conditions tonight and the pitch was pretty awful too. We've shown we have a tough side to use tonight and hopefully that will serve us well. There won't be many games this weekend so we've gained a point on other teams with one of our games in hand.

"We thought it was a penalty and that the referee got it wrong. I asked Mo whether he could have scored from Jermaine's cross in the second half and he said yes. Sammy (Deering) was good tonight in a slightly different position and I thought we were good tonight but we just couldn't finish it off. Our record away from home hasn't been good interms of goals against recently so we set out for a clean sheet and we got that. With a little bit of luck we could have won the game. Credit to the defenders and the rest of the team for putting in a shift tonight.

"I knew Darren (Carter) wouldn't be fit on Saturday so he didn't travel. There isn't anything else to read about in that. We'll see about sorting his contract this week. We will be working hard on bringing in reinforcements to help the lads already here."
