Mark Yates feels there a lots of positives to take from the Robins' second half performanceRobins chief Mark Yates speaking to the press following today's 1-1 draw with Aldershot...
"It wasn't the best first half and the worst thing we did obviously was conceding the goal. It was disappointing but I thought we played with a bit of vigor with a couple of subs. I thought our subs made a really good impact on the game. I'm delighted with the second half but obviously I'm disappointed that we haven't won the game.
"We should have dealt with their goal a lot better. But my players have shown tremendous character and played some really good football in the second half.
"We had some good chances to win the game but we've not worked the keeper enough. I thought my subs came on and did really well and had a positive impact on the way we played. The crowd got behind us and though we were the only team in the game, we just didn't manage to find the winner.
"I thought Luke McCullough was excellent. We knew he could play and handle the occasion and Luke showed us what he's about. He's composed, is a proper defender and can be pleased with his league debut today.
"Russ (Penn) had a bit of a knock from the other night but I stuck with the same side and swapped him at half time. I felt Russ was really good for us today though and gave us real drive out there. The play was stopped a lot in the first half but we upped the tempo and showed what we're about in the second half. We are obviously disappointed but it could be a good point. It was a sloppy goal we conceded but we showed a lot of battle.
"We have probably drawn too many games than we'd like but because we didn't win today, that doesn't mean we can give up on anything. There were a lot positives from the game, particularly in the second half, and we can build on this".
