Cheltenham Town's unbeaten league run was ended abruptly by a determined Mansfield side at the weekend.
A 2-1 victory for the Stags alleviated some pressure on the players and management of the Field Mill outfit and it came at the expense of Cheltenham's impressive run in League 2. The Robins had started well with early chances promising another food performance but Anthony Howell's deflected opener soon wrote another script for the afternoon. Mansfield suddenly had something to hold onto but the Robins still had chances to get themselves back into the game but they were dealt another blow minutes before half time when Matt Rhead lost his marker to head home from the corner.
The Robins needed to respond but at time during the second half they lacked the creativity that had been so common in recent weeks. A late Sido Jombati goal handed Mark Yates' side a glimmer of hope but that was soon distinguished by the referee's whistle.
