Brown: Be At Our Best

27 December 2013

Scott Brown believes the Robins must be on top form against Mansfield on Sunday.

Cheltenham Town number one Scott Brown believes a strong performance is vital if the Robins are to take maximum points on Sunday.

Mark Yates' Robins face Paul Cox's Mansfield Town on Sunday (3pm) and Scott will be looking to keep a third successive clean sheet and three points. The Stags currently sit 21st in the division just above the relegation zone and have failed to win a league game since September.

Despite Cheltenham being favourites for this match, Scott Brown believes he and his team-mates must be at their very best to get a positive result.

"We know it's going to be a tough game," said Scott.

"People might look it and see that they haven't won for a while but we know how tough it can be and we will need to be as good as we were in the first half (Exeter win) to get something from the game."

Scott has kept 8 clean sheets so far this season and has been a major part of the current 11 league match unbeaten run. A number of saves in the 1-0 Boxing Day win over Exeter City drew special praise from manager Mark Yates and the 28 year-old was man of the match for many supporters commenting on the game through the club's social media channels.

A Christmas victory over Exeter has continued what has been a remarkable turnaround in form for the Robins after early season blues but Scott explained that no-one will be resting on their laurels when the Stags come to town.

"The win was massive," he explained.

"We haven't won back to back all season and we haven't won three in a row for a long time so that is what we are going to be aiming to do on Sunday against a tough, physical Mansfield side.

"We will be taking it one game at a time and that is exactly what we'll be doing on Sunday."
