Mark Yates believes good performances will bring results ahead of another big game versus Plymouth this weekend.
Mark Yates talking to the media ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League Two match at home to Plymouth Argyle:"Both ourselves and Plymouth will be looking for our first win. They have made some good signings and John (Sheridan) has been there and done it in this division. I'm not worried about where we are in the table because we could have had more points than we got. Performances will get you results and ours have been decent so far but we've just not had the wins we would have liked. We'll need need to be more clinical at both ends of the pitch.
"Zack Kotwica has earned his 2 year deal and everyone likes what they see but we can't put pressure on a young boy. Everyone wants to see a local lad do well but the hard work starts now. You won't get too much off me about him but he'll do good things and some things not so well. He needs to knuckle down and we'll try to get the best out of him whether that's leaving him alone or working closely with him. There are a few others who will get their opportunity but Zack is the one at the moment getting game time and we'll see what happens over the next few months.
"The friendly in midweek was to give game time to players in my squad. There were positives, negatives and plenty to work on but they got 90 minutes under their belt which was important.
"Terry Gornell (groin) won't be available this weekend but I think everyone bar him and Jamie are fit and ready. Terry isn't too bad and he won't be out long.
"We tried to do a deal for Steven Gillespie last week and I didn't happen. He is a proven goalscorer at this level as well as above and he knows the club well so we are delighted he is here. He is a good lad and he's not fully match fit but he can help us and we can help him. Steven often does well in his career when he has a point to prove. He is here on loan for a month initially so we'll see how it goes but I have tried to take him a couple of times. He know's where the goal is, he's a good football and right now he is just what we need.
"I don't look at league tables until 6 or 7 games into the season. I couldn't tell you where we were and even if we were top of the league I still wouldn't be interested. You always want to get off to a good start result-wise and we haven't but it was a tough two games. Plymouth will be hurting more than ourselves because they've lost both league games so far and they'll be looking to bounce back. We got beat down there at the end of last season so we know we have to work hard and if we can perform well then we give ourselves a chance."
