Yates: Chesterfield Are Strong

8 August 2013

Mark Yates believes Chesterfield are one of the strongest teams in the division and can't wait for a strong test.

Mark Yates speaking to the media ahead of the first away game of the new season versus Chesterfield:

"The game on Tuesday will have taken a lot out of the players but that's no excuse because we will make sure they are ready for Saturday. It's not ideal playing 120 minutes in midweek but I think we've come out of it pretty well.

"They are professionals, good athletes and I think they finished the game really strongly the other night. We know we have a tough game on Saturday so we'll be doing everything we can to make sure they are ready.

"An away game might mean a change of system and I might have a little tinker but we'll see. I think we have got the balance right in the first two games between playing and making sure we are organised. We were playing two decent teams but we come up against a team on Saturday who I think are one of the strongest in the division. We know it'll be tough because we had a bit a going over there last season but if we have to do things slightly different there then we will do.

"I imagine there is a pressure on Chesterfield. I went to see them play the other night and they had good away support and they have good players which I saw. There will be pressure but they will cope with that because they have real experience and it won't be a problem for them. We've had a report on them and Neil and I went along last night to see them. They try to play decent football, they have great movement and the lad Gary Roberts is exceptional for this division. We have a game on our hands but we've done alright ourselves and we must make sure our gameplan is put into action and that we can be a threat ourselves.

"Steve Elliott will be okay. He thinks it's not too serious but we won't risk him if need be because we have players who can come in. There are a few bumps and bruises after a few tasty challenges but on the whole I think everyone is okay."
