A thrilling cup clash enthralled the Abbey Business Stadium crowd as Cheltenham fought back to defeat League One Crawley.

Cheltenham Town will now be in the draw for the second round on Thursday after they fought back from 3-1 down to run out 4-3 victors after extra time.

Crawley took the lead through the diving head of Gary Alexander after 23 minutes but the Robins levelled through a Matt Richards penalty after Byron Harrison was fouled inside the area. The visitors took the lead once again on 59 minutes despite a bright start from Cheltenham who had even hit the bar through Russ Penn. Nicky Adam's striker handed Crawley a 2-1 lead and he added another 6 minutes later to put his side seemingly in control.

That goal sparked a revival from the Robins however and Terry Gornell capitalised on some sloppy defending and scored, on the second attempt, his first goal of the season. Byron Harrison, who had been a constant threat rose highest on 75 minutes to head in an equaliser and stun the League One side.

The match ran through into extra time but it was Cheltenham Town who wanted it more and Byron Harrison scored a composed goal on the 114th minute to confirm victory for his team.
