Connor Called Up

7 August 2013

Connor Roberts has been called up to the Wales U21 squad.

Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Connor Roberts has been called up to the Wales U21 squad.

Connor, 21, has already made his debut for his country having appeared against Iceland as a substitute back in February. He will now be in the squad to face Finland next Wednesday at Bangor City FC's BookPeople Stadium in a UEFA qualifying game. The kick off for this match on Wednesday, 14th August is at 4pm.

"It's always an honour to play for your country," said Connor.

"I've been in the squad a few times but it's a big game for us next week and I think Finland are probably our toughest opponents. It's certainly great to be recognised again and I feel like I have improved as a player at Cheltenham Town."

The former Everton goalkeeper has yet to make his debut for Cheltenham Town but he signed a new contract with the club this summer and was frequently used through pre-season including a good performance against Kidderminster Harriers last weekend.

Despite the call up, Connor will still be available for selection for Cheltenham Town's competitive matches.
