Mark Yates delighted with performance but rues missed chances.
Mark Yates speaking to the media after today's 1-1 draw at Wycombe:
"It's two points dropped but I got the performance I wanted after last weekend. We shot ourselves in the foot three minutes in and gifted them a calamitous goal but the response from that was fantastic. It was sweltering today but I asked for a big performance and my goalkeeper has hardly touched the ball. We didn't do enough in the second half but I felt we should have won at half time.
"Credit to them (Wycombe) because they changed it round to match us but we still had enough chances to win the game. I asked them to go out nad pass the ball today because we weren't able to play our football against Aldershot or Accrington. We needed to take responsibility of the ball and I think we did just that but there wasn't the finishing touch but it will come.Â
"We were still in control but Keith Lowe in desperation has gone for the ball when Sam Deering was ready to clear it for the counter attack. It's the way things have gone for us but we coped well after.
"It was Darren Carter's first full competitive game for a long time and I thought he was outstanding but he will only get better for us. Sam Deering was causing them all sorts of problems too. It's a tough place to come but we can take a lot of heart from today.
"Every game is tough whoever you play but it's a good strong league. We believe in what we are trying to do and we'll do well with more performances like today."
