Going for Gold

7 September 2012

The lads will be taking part in the ‘Gold Challenge’ to raise funds for the National Star College next week.

On Tuesday 11th September, teams of Cheltenham Town players will visit four local locations to take on a new sport and are asking fans to get behind them by sponsoring them to complete their Olympic challenge.

Taking on Archery, Fencing, Table Tennis and Shooting, each player will be competing with other team mates to raise as much as possible for National Star.

With support from local sports clubs, team members will be visiting Deer Park Archers, Leisure@ Cheltenham, Ian Coley Shooting Range and Cotswold Fencing Club at National Star College to complete each of their chosen sports. Following some intensive training, each player will then compete against other members to earn points for their Gold Challenge team.

Cheltenham Town striker Darryl Duffy said, “We are really pleased to be able to support National Star with Gold Challenge. It is great that there is a competitive challenge that the boys can get involved in, particularly at such an inspiration time with London 2012 taking place.

We hope all the fans will get behind the team and sponsor us to raise as much money for this worthwhile cause."

Leanne Sheath, Cheltenham Town Commercial executive also said, “We are really pleased to able to support the National Star College by taking part in this challenge. After the success of the Olympics this year it is great to take inspiration from the games and show our support for such a great cause”.
