Yates: Proud Of The Players

20 October 2012

Mark Yates proud of his players and wants to move on quickly.

Mark Yates speaking to the media after this afternoon's npower League Two defeat to Bradford:

"We are disappointed obviously but my players were outstanding. There have some gritty players and they are a good team but we knew that before we came here. We had one moment of madness in the 49th minute but I thought we had done enough to get something today. We defended manfully but we should have been given a second penalty and 30 seconds later the ball was in the back of our net. How that wasn't a penalty I'll never know but there were some strange decisions like my player being booked for being tripped in the penalty box. The attitude and effort of my players was there for all to see.

"We played some good football in the second half but their boy Hanson is a real handful and Wells took the chances he was given. We showed character and the ability to get on the ball and play today. Bradford are good at what they do and fair play to them for that but we probably deserved something from that.

"We should have been given a chance to go 2-0 up with a second penalty but perhaps referees can't give two in a row against Bradford with their 10,000 fans. The penalty against Sido was quite right. We can talk about officials all day but the bottom line is  that I'm proud of them and we won't be getting too downbeat because it's a tough place to come. We haven't got what we wanted but we move on.

"I'm not looking for any reinforcements apart from the ones I am looking to tie up.

"We have had to come to a tough place with their crowd right behind them but we must now move on to Tuesday."
