Yates: Many Positives

6 October 2012

Mark Yates frustrated with late goal and red card.

Mark Yates speaking to the media after today's 2-2 draw with Fleetwood:

"Alan Bennett got sent off for pushing the lad in the chest and he fell for that old trick. Their 18 is a good player and was excellent. I don't normally criticise my players but it was unprofessional and totally unacceptable. I am fuming at that more than the goal to be honest. I'm going to miss my captain for the next three games now and I wanted to rest three or four people but Benno certainly wouldn't have been one of them. We speak as it is here and he has pushed him in the chest, it was absolutely nothing. He has said the lad was in his face after they scored but so flipping what? I am absolutely angry.

"I'm angry with the referee's decision for the freekick anyway but we should have done better and there are other things I'm more angry about. I knew Fleetwood were a good side and Micky has got them playing well but we looked a real threat after we changed things in the second half and I'm delighted for Jeff getting his goal. We should have just gone on to win the game. I thought the tackle from Parkin was a disgrace and I thought it was a straight red but once we didn't get that then I thought something might just come back to haunt us. There were many, many positives and we will be up there.

"I felt we needed another body up top and there are plenty of players chomping at the bit. I very nearly started Darryl today and he was very unlucky not to come on but I just felt Jeff's presence up there was needed and it worked. We turned it around and credit to the boys for that but I'm just disappointed with a couple of things that have happened. I felt we could have got a couple more if I'm being honest and Billy's freekick was nearly in the top corner. Of course we're disappointed but it's a good point and we have shown our fighting qualities.

"We have got some good players and I felt that today was Jeff's moment to come on and get us back in the game and he did that. Russ Penn was very good today and the majority of them were but I think things went against us for both of the goals.

"I should know more about the loan player tomorrow or Monday. I'm short on bodies and it's not an ideal situation but I'll see what I can do."
