Robins Flying Squad Takes Off

24 October 2012

Cheltenham Town are teaming up with Whole Foods Market to give Gloucestershire youngsters the chance to share the excitement and action of match day with their football heroes.

The Robins Flying Squad will be taking off next month at the Abbey Business Stadium and the club are now inviting local junior schools and groups such as cubs and scouts, brownies and guides to sign up.

For every home game The Flying Squad will be given the job of forming a Guard of Honour for the teams as part of a free fun day out at the club.

Whole Foods Market, which is opening a new store in the town next month, is joining forces with the Robins to help promote and sponsor the scheme.

Tim Russon, Cheltenham Town Commercial Director, said: “We want to give as many youngsters as we can the chance to come and enjoy themselves at Cheltenham Town. The plan is to have a different school or group in for every game and we can promise them a day to remember.

“It’s great to have a newcomer to the town like Whole Foods on board as well. As part of their sponsorship we’ll be providing the youngsters with a healthy snack lunch, so between us we’re hoping to offer the best of times and the best of food.”

The new Whole Foods Market store opens in Cheltenham on November 7th 2012, on the Gallagher Retail Park.

New Store Team Leader Mary Cunningham said: “We’re delighted to be supporting this great initiative by the Robins. Cheltenham Town Football Club is part of the fabric of the town and of great importance to the local community of which we are now proud to be a part.”

The youngsters will get the full VIP treatment with souvenir t-shirts to keep and flags to wave as part of the club’s continuing campaign to help forge more partnerships and friendships with the local community.

Every week the club’s Community Trust reaches over 700 local primary school children with a programme which offers in school PE lessons and after school sports club.

Any school or group wanting to sign up for the Flying Squad should contact Tony Symonds on 01242 588104 or e-mail anthony.symonds@ctfc.com.
