Yates: Not Good Enough

20 November 2012

Mark Yates disappointed with goals gifted to Chesterfield.

Mark Yates speaking to the media following tonight's game at the Proact Stadium:

"We've gifted them goals tonight and we were not good enough. They were coming at us at the start but we weathered it and we gifted them the goals we scored. We got ourselves back into it at the start of the second half and we were on the front foot but a minute later we concede. Every time they attacked we looked susceptible but we knew it was two tough games and there's nothing we can do about them now. We'll be back in tomorrow to dust ourselves down and go again Saturday.

"Results have perhaps gone for us tonight but the bigger picture is to take care of our own performances. We won't be getting promotion of a play-off spot with 32 points so we must get back to doing what we do best. I thought there were some decent bits today but we gifted them goals at the wrong times and we didn't execute what we were trying to do particulary well.

"The players are hurting in there and they are disappointed because it's two defeats on the spin. We are third and we won't be pressing any panic buttons but perhaps we need to go back to basics as they say and go back to being strong, competitive and organised."
