Yates: Lessons To Learn

31 July 2012

Mark Yates happy with another good workout but believes there are lessons to be learnt.

Mark Yates speaking after the 4-0 friendly defeat to Cardiff City this evening:

"It was a great workout for us and we had to work really hard but it was good game time for everyone and we can learn a lot from it. For 20 minutes we were doing more than alright but the first goal knocked the stuffing out of us. Cardiff's movement was great to see and it gives us something to work at. It was 90 minutes of really hard work.

"I'm not interested in results and that was the case with Saturday although it did give us a bit of confidence and I felt we started with that tonight but we know how good they are. I was pleased with some things but there are other things we need to learn from.

"We were very quiet in the first half and we made some strange decisions. It was a good workout and we tried to play but they played really well on the night. It was game time for a lot of players tonight and that is important.

"Tristan Plummer and his agent will want to know what's happening so that's something I'll be dealing with over the next few days. He needs to get fitter as we all do but that's what pre-season is about. He's done well and I'm sure we'll all find out what will happen in the next few days.

"I don't deal with speculation and until anyone has signed I won't be making any kind of comment."
