Yates: We Deserved To Win

11 December 2012

Mark Yates delighted with an FA Cup victory and now turns his focus to Port Vale.

Mark Yates speaking to the media following this evening's FA Cup replay with Hereford:

"Hereford didn't make it easy for us and we didn't either in the second half. We conceded a poor goal when it was there for us to close down and you could see penalties looming in extra time but we were the only ones looking to win it because we were doing all the attacking and we got what we deserved.

"Scotty had oen save to make in the first half and it was a really good one but, apart from that, he didn't have anything else to do. We gave them something else to hold onto but they were set for penalties and putting men behind the ball. It was all about whether we could produce the quality we needed to win the game. Cheltenham don't win games here but we've finally done that and we are delighted with the result.

"We have a few bumps and bruises so we'll need to see where we are come Saturday. Russ Penn has taken a big whack in the first half from an atrocious tackle and Darryl has had to soldier on at the end after a collision as well. We all focus on Port Vale now because it's third versus second and we are looking forward to it.

"When the Everton game comes around then we can start to look forward to it and we'll play as well as we can do and who knows what could happen."
