Yates: A Disgrace

21 December 2012

Mark Yates slammed his players after a poor performance away at Rochdale.

Mark Yates speaking to the media after a disappointing 4-1 loss to Rochdale:

"It was a disgrace. I thought we rode it out but we were a million miles away from what we should be and it could have been more. It was a totally unacceptable performance for the away fans that travelled all the way up on a Friday night. The fans deserve better than that and I deserve better than that. I will back them when they lose but play well but I'm not having that tonight.

"That's really upset me tonight and there is only one player who deserves any credit. Browny was absolutely outstanding but the rest have got to look at themselves in the mirror. Browny deserves a day off tomorrow but, for everyone else, Christmas is cancelled.

"I'll be speaking to them all tomorrow. That was pathetic and we'll probably be out of the top three tomorrow. There is a long way to go and I am just fuming tonight but we'll be okay. If they think that is acceptable then they have another thing coming.

"I've been as good as gold with them but I'm not having that tonight. We were given the ball away up top, defending like pansies and Scotty Brown kept us in the game."
