Mark Yates happy with his team's work rate and 2-0 victory.
Mark Yates speaking to the press following today's 2-0 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge:
"It is the first time I have won on the opening day as a manager so I'm delighted with that. A clean sheet, lots of positives and plenty to work on too but it was never going to be perfect. It was a really hot day and the lads had to put in a real effort but Dagenham were never going to just come here and lay down. We started really well and had a few chances but then they were strong. We started the second half really well and it was a great striker from Jermaine. I'm pleased with what I saw and pleased to get the three points.
"Shaun Harrad is here to score goals and he will. I believe that if he plays 35 games then he'll score around 20 or 25 goals but his general play was very good today too as was everyone's performance. It's always good to see your strikers scoring goals and it is a great finished but a very good ball from Sam (Deering) too. We have so much pace in the team and we need to utilise that sometimes and there must be an end product.
"It was a tremendous striker from Jermaine for his goal and he was really unlucky not to have had one in the first half too. He has shown that he has as a great strike on him and he is full of confidence but he is one that is always looking to improve as they all are.
"Harry Hooman was excellent. He could have done one or two things a little better but he's on his fourth or fifth league game and he was very good. Alan Bennett trained yesterday and then then dropped out right at the end so he wasn't fit for today and we'll have to wait and see. Mo will be out for a few weeks because he has an ankle injury. He opened his ankle up a little last weekend and he will be about 2-3 weeks realistically.
"Today has reinforced what we already knew. We have a very good squad of players but we also need another player. I have a few phone calls to make and I need to see which players played for various clubs today so we'll see."
