Cheltenham lose out on penalties despite strong performance versus the Dons.
The Robins crashed out of the Capital One Cup at the weekend on penalties despite a solid performance against strong opposition.
Cheltenham coped well with one of League One's favourites and found themselves with an advantage when Stephen Gleeson was sent off for a foul on Sam Deering but the visitor's took the lead minutes later when Ben Bowditch pulled away from the defence and slammed in the opening goal. Mark Yates' side were more than a match for the Dons however and Kaid Mohamed produced a wonderful shot from 30 yards to beat David Martin and pull his team level. The scoreline remained deadlocked through normal and extra time but Cheltenham lost out 5-3 on penalties and crashed out at the first round.
