The Robins fell to a 2-0 defeat against Lincoln City at the LNER Stadium in League One action this afternoon.
New manager Darrell Clarke was in attendance at Sincil Bank after he was announced as the club's new boss yesterday evening.
A first half brace from Lasse Sorensen was enought to give the hosts all three points and extend Town's goalless run.
Speaking after the defeat, interim manager Kevin Russell said, “I thought we started poorly especially the first 30 minutes."
“We had a gameplan and we talked to the players about what they had to do and a couple of individuals didn’t do what they were told.
“After we changed it, I thought we did ok.”
The Robins created the first opening of the game with Jovan Malcolm bursting down the left hand side but he was unable to keep his effort down.
However, the hosts dealt a double blow soon after through right-back Sorensen.
His first came from a right footed drive across Luke Southwood before 16 minutes later he squeezed an effort in from a tight angle.
The hosts kept coming forward for the remainder of the half with Reeco Hackett coming closest as he flashed a shot wide of the upright.
The second half passed mostly without note as the hosts thought they had a third through Hakeeb Adelakun but it was ruled offside.
The Robins nearly found a way back into the game themselves as Elliot Bonds slipped Oli Hammond in but the number seven shot straight at Lukas Jensen.
