Match Report: Robins 0-0 MK Dons

The points were shared at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium as the Robins were held to a 0-0 draw by Milton Keynes Dons.

Luke Southwood produced several saves to keep his second clean sheet in a week, whilst James Olayinka was closest to finding the net for the Robins.

Southwood prevented Will Grigg from giving the visitors the advantage inside the first five minutes, getting down well to his left to scoop the ball past his post and away to safety.

Great combination play between George Lloyd and James Olayinka lead to the latter darting into the box and making space for a shot. Unfortunately, he didn’t quite catch it properly, and the ball trickled tamely into the arms of Jamie Cumming.

Cumming had to be on his toes to adjust to Olayinka’s right-footed effort, which took a large ricochet off the face of Zak Jules. The visitors’ ‘keeper stepped back across to his right before parrying the ball over his crossbar.

A surging run by Louie Barry looked to have the Robins defence scrambling, until the intervention of Lewis Freestone, who slid in clattered the ball away from danger just as the Aston Villa loanee looked set to pull the trigger.

Nathan Holland shrugged off a challenge from Taylor Perry to continuing driving towards the penalty area, before shooting low with his left foot, but Southwood was able to get his body behind and hold.

Southwood produced two similar saves soon afterwards, firstly denying Bradley Johnson, before a couple of minutes later getting behind another shot from outside the box from Holland.

The Robins came close when Christian Norton dispossessed Bradley Johnson in the Dons’ half and continued his run before shooting just over Cumming’s goal from a tight angle.

Former Cheltenham striker Mo Eisa drew the best save of the afternoon from Luke Southwood, just two minutes short of the 90. The forward was poised to give the visitors a late winner, but for quick reflexes from the Northern Irishman who leapt to his right and got a strong hand to the shot.

Southwood kept his concentration right to the end, pouncing on a loose ball from a corner as Darragh Burns loitered looking for scraps.

Cheltenham Town host MK Dons at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium in the Sky Bet League One (3PM KO).

The Robins will be aiming to make it two home wins on the bounce, after beating League One outfit Morecambe on Tuesday night.

The Dons were also victorious in midweek, after sealing a 2-0 away win over 10-man Charlton. The much-needed three points boosted Liam Manning's side up to 21st, and just two points out of the relegation zone.

Tickets are still available for the weekend's match at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium, and you can purchase them online.

Prices vary across our stands, with adult prices ranging from £18-£26, students and over-65s between £13-£18, and £7-£10 for under-18s.

If you are buying tickets in person, you can use cash or card from the sales point in the main car park. There will be sales for home & away fans on the day.

Fans should arrive early to avoid queues, and any ticket changes should be made a day in advance due to the time it takes to alter tickets.

Also, the gates will open from 1:45PM to allow stewards and staff additional training time on the new ticketing system.

Saturday's match has been dedicated by the Robins to help the Rainbow Laces 2022 ccampaign: Inclusion Has No Off-Season. The players will wear Proud Robins branded t-shirts during the warm-up, have the option to further show their support by wearing rainbow laces in their boots and the matchday captain will proudly wear a bespoke rainbow coloured armband during the match to help raise awareness of the campaign.

On arrival and around the ground, you will see our new food pods. These are cashless, and only card payments are accepted.

We have a new information hut at the ground, which is run by our supporter liason and disability assistance team. It's located in the car park on the right hand side as you enter, between the ticket collection booth and “Hungry Robins” outlet. The hut bears the logos of the Community Trust, Robins Trust, and Proud Robins, reflecting that we are all working together to support the club, represent fans and celebrate inclusion and diversity.

We aim to man the hut from around 1PM until just before kick-off on matchdays, and support with any disability assistance, provide access to free DAB radios, ear defenders and sensory packs, as well as taking bookings for our halftime cross bar challenge.

The area of disabled cover is undergoing repair and we advise to bring wet weather clothing for the match if you will be in the area.

Surf & Fries has now been moved into the car park beside the information hut, and will remain there for the rest of the 2022/23 season, with new food vendors implemented behind the Optimisng IT Stand in it's place.

A new set of actions will be implemented across all English football leagues for the 2022/23 season and will be backed by the Football Supporters’ Association. They will target activity such as entering the pitch without permission, carrying or using smoke bombs or pyrotechnics and throwing objects - as well as drug use and discriminatory behaviour.
