Cheltenham Town moved further away from the relegation zone after picking up a valuable point in a goalless stale mate against midtable Lincoln City.

Confidence from Saturday's victory was clear from the first whistle as quick passing found Alfie May inbetween the midfield and defensive lines a number of times in the opening 10 minutes. 

The Robins were finding space down the flank. Ryan Jackson skipped down the right hand side before being fouled, and then Ryan Broom's pass was slightly over hit to an open May on the left side. 

Jack Diamond was the first Lincoln player on the night to go into the referees book. His poor touch just outside the Robins box fell loose before the midfielder lunged late onto defender Caleb Taylor.

With a quiet opening half hour, the visitors launched a rapid counter attack after defending a long throw in from Will Ferry. The full back was able to use his pace to get back and obsturct the attack, getting a crucial touch on the ball with a sliding challange.

Set pieces were proving to be the most efficient way to goal and a melee in the box saw a vital clearence from Aiden Keena divert the ball from goal and towards the centre of the pitch.

The following Imps freekick saw Luke Southwood brought into action for the first time in the game with five minutes of the opening half left. A shot from the right hand side looked to be creeping into the top corner, but a great diving save saw the 'keeper push the ball away for a corner. 

Welshman Broom had the first real effort on goal for the Robins as a he struck a half volley from outside the box over the bar, after a Ferry long throw in was partially cleared.

Lincoln's number 10Teddy Bishop went the closest to opening the deadlock as he tried his luck from 40 yards. His looping side footed effort bounced off the top of the bar, evading a backpeddling Southwood who had rushed out of his box to clear a long ball.

With limited chances in the match, Ben House had the clearest opportunity on goal in the tie. A long ball avaided both Tom Bradbury and Taylor, and House cut inside onto his left foot before dragging his strike past the near post.

With the game going into the final 15 minutes, it started to open up for the Robins. Broom tried his luck from just outside the box, with his low strike not properly dealt with by Imps goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, who parried the ball into the path of the unrushing May. The forward went to ground under the pressure of the 'keeper, but the penalty appeals were waved away by the referee.

With six minutes of injury time added, the away side looked happy with the point, but the Robins were still seaking the opportunity to win the game. Substitute Liam Sercombe's pinpoint cross found the head of Taylor, who's effort was just inches wide of the far post-the last big moment of the match.
