There's Boxing Day action on Sunday at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium when Cheltenham Town host Plymouth Argyle (kick-off: 3pm).

It's going to be a bumper crowd for the visit of the Pilgrims as the Robins look to end 2021 on home soil on a high in the last home fixture of the calendar year.

Plymouth represent tough opposition as they aim for promotion to the Championship in what is the first meeting between the two clubs this season.

With the capacity less than 10,000 and less than 4,000 of standing capacity at the stadium, there's no requirement to carry out Covid certification to attend the game, though we are advising fans to take a lateral flow test before attending. If you're suffering from COVID-19 symptoms do not attend.

We are also asking fans to wear face masks in indoor areas, on public transport when travelling to the game and in busy areas.

Tickets for Sunday's fixture are on sale online. Buy before midnight on Saturday to save £2 on matchday prices.

Team news

It's too soon for Will Boyle to be considered fit to play. Conor Thomas though could be involved in the squad once again after returning from injury.

Wolves loanee Taylor Perry (pictured) is definitely out, while Guyana international midfielder, Elliot Bonds, could be back in the squad after his recent successful loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers.

Assistant manager Russell Milton spoke to the press ahead of Sunday's match and he was full of praise for the way Plymouth look to get the ball down and play.

"They are a really good side. We don't really pay attention to the a team's recent runs, we look at where they are in the League and they are doing well. Right from the start of the season they've been on a really good run," he said.

"Obviously Steve Schumacher has gone in and taken over from Ryan (Lowe) so I wouldn't expect much to change from them - they are a good football team. They like possession and like to move you about. It'll be a good test for us."

Opposition

All season Plymouth have been in and around the promotion spots in League One. They suffered a dip in the final week of November when they lost three consecutive games against Charlton Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers and Wigan Athletic, though they beat Charlton 1-0 when the two sides met again last weekend.

They have an eye on returning to the Championship and have a squad boasting plenty of experience.

The likes of Gloucester born skipper Joe Edwards, talented attacker Danny Mayor, central defender Dan Scarr and former MK Dons man in midfield, Jordan Houghton, can all be relied upon to bring the League One experience that has no doubt helped them across the pitch this season.

Robins fans will be familiar with Ryan Broom with the Welshman on a season-long loan at Home Park from Peterborough United.

Scottish striker Ryan Hardie will be one to watch, while also in attack they include the threatening Kieran Agard and Wales under-21 international Luke Jephcott, who is a product of their youth academy.

The manager: Steve Schumacher

Only just appointed manager at the beginning of the month, Steve Schumacher has made the step up from assistant manager to lead Argyle following Ryan Lowe's move back north to become the boss at Championship side Preston North End.

The 37-year-old had also worked as number two to Lowe at Bury when they helped the Gigg Lane side get promoted from League Two, achieving the same with Plymouth when they made the trip down south.

Schumacher was a midfielder in his playing days who turned out for the likes of Bradford City, Crewe Alexandra, Fleetwood Town, Stevenage and Southport.

The Colin Farmer Stand has completely sold out for the game. There are very few seated tickets left in the Autovillage Stand. There's still plenty of standing terrace tickets for the Optmising IT Stand, Paddock and Tunnel.

Pre-paid tickets for the Autovillage Stand, Paddock, Tunnel and Prestbury Road End can be collected from the matchday collection point in the car park next to the bowling club. Tickets for the Colin Farmer Stand can be collected from the new ticket booth located just outside the Parklands turnstiles.

If choosing to buy on the day, the matchday sales point next to the bowling club is where you can buy tickets for the terrace. Very limited Autovillage Stand seated tickets are on sale from the ticket office.

The match programme will be available to buy around the stadium and club shop at a price of £3.
