Cheltenham Town's preparations for the new season got underway in earnest this afternoon with a friendly win against Evesham United.

Tahvon Campbell scored twice, sandwiching a debut goal for new signing Andy Williams in a 3-1 victory at The Jubilee Stadium.

Three other summer aquisititions – Finn Azaz, Lewis Freestone and Liam Sercombe – all had a run out on an encouraging afternoon for Michael Duff.

"The performance was okay," he said.

"There were pockets of good football and some areas of sloppiness. It's what you expect at this stage.

"We created a lot of chances and I'd like to think we wouldn't miss that many in the season. Some of the football though was really good."

The only downside of the afternoon was the continued absence of supporters, who could not attend the opening fixture of the summer due the current social distancing guidelines.

Azaz and Campbell called former Robins youth product Lewis Clayton into a couple of very good saves during a promising opening, but it was loanee Callum Ebanks who scored against his parent club with a fine strike from fully 25 yards.

Campbell though got his side back on terms in the last action of the opening 45 minutes with an assured finish.

Williams put the Robins in front on his first outing for the club since his arrival from Northampton Town, converting Harvey Skurek’s cross from the left with a downward header.

And within a minute, Campbell had added his second of the afternoon to seal the win.

Michael Duff sent on ten outfield players after an hour, all of which should start the match at Stratford Town on Tuesday evening.

CHELTENHAM TOWN (final 30 minutes): Harris; Hunt, Bowry, Raglan, Boyle, Hussey, Clements, Sercombe, Addai, Reid, May
