It’s back to action at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday as Cheltenham go in search of another home win for the visit of Cambridge United (kick-off: 3pm).

Following last week’s three points over Macclesfield, the second of three significant consecutive home matches sees the Robins welcome a Cambridge side who they are level on points with heading into the weekend.

It’s another crucial outing, and following the superb support that inspired the team to come back from 2-0 down at half time to win 3-2, it’s hoped the Robins faithful will come out in their numbers to make plenty of noise once again.

Following Friday’s snow there is every chance that Saturday’s match will go ahead as planned, but please keep an eye on the club website and social media channels for updates on Saturday morning.

Team news

Jordan Tillson and Rakish Bingham could be handed their debuts after both players joined this week.

Defender Jordon Forster may miss out after the knock to the head he received last weekend, while Will Boyle and Tyrone Barnett will also miss out.

Sean Long has returned to full training and Manny Duku played for an hour in the reserve team game against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

Opposition

Saturday’s visitors appointed Colin Calderwood as manager in late December, and the former Nottingham Forest boss has had a decent start to life in charge. He has led his team to four wins while also suffering four defeats.

A 1-0 loss at Exeter last weekend ended a run of three straight victories and they currently sit 20th in League Two, on the same points as the Robins, having played a game more.

On deadline day they brought in Jake Doyle-Hughes and Hayden Coulson on loan from Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, while their other January arrivals include Alex Doyle, who has come in on loan from Bradford, and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy who is another loanee from Villa.

They add numbers to a squad that already includes the likes of former Carlisle attacker David Amoo, the lively George Maris and experienced midfield man Gary Deegan.

They’ll be without Ade Azeez for the future though – he secured a deadline day move to league rivals Newport County for an undisclosed fee – which leaves Jevani Brown as their leading goal scorer ahead of the weekend.

Last time out 

The first meeting between the two sides this season took place in late August. In what was Russell Milton’s first game in caretaker charge, the Robins claimed their first win of the season thanks to Sam Jones, who came off the bench to make his debut and score the only goal in a 1-0 win. 

Scott Flinders had been required to pull off a number of important saves to deny Ade Azeez and Jevani Brown among others, in a win that saw Cheltenham move up to 20th in the table after a winless start.
