Preview: Notts County V Cheltenham

17 November 2017

Cheltenham Town travel to Meadow Lane this Saturday afternoon to face league leaders Notts County in Sky Bet League Two (kick-off 3pm).

The Robins scored a late equaliser last time out to snatch a point against Luton Town and finish the weekend’s EFL action in 16th spot - five points off the play-offs.

The Magpies are riding high in top spot in the division and are yet to taste defeat on home soil, having lost just once in the last six league games.

The Opposition:

Manager Kevin Nolan has urged Notts County to keep calm and not deviate from the norm when it comes to facing Cheltenham Town.

"The way Gary's teams play, he won't be giving us anything for free," Nolan told the official Notts County website. "We will have to earn what we get.

"We have to respect the fact teams are going to raise their game against us because we are top of the league but, for me, nothing changes.

"The players will be given details about strengths and weaknesses of the opposition, but it's about us and focusing on becoming better as a squad and team."

Team News:

Cheltenham team news: Defender Jordan Cranston has been ruled out of the rest of the season and joins long-term absentees Jaanai Gordon and Jordon Forster on the treatment table. Kevin Dawson again misses out as he continues a three-match ban after his sending off against Maidstone in the FA Cup. Joe Morrell should return after missing the last two league and cup games on international duty with Wales Under-21s.

Notts County team news: Elliott Hewitt is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Stevenage. Goalkeeper Adam Collin and midfielder Michael O'Connor remain sidelined by their long-term knee injuries but Shola Ameobi is making good progress and will be monitored in the build-up to the game.

The man in the middle:

Referee Ben Toner – who has taken charge of 14 games this season and handed out 42 yellow cards and two red cards - will take charge of the league clash in Nottingham. He previously refereed the clash between Chesterfield and Cheltenham this season. He will be assisted by Declan Ford, Peter Gooch and fourth official Daniel Middleton.
