The Robins' second string are competing in the Football Combination's Southern Division this season.
The decision to return to reserve team football was made in order to provide more competitive matches for the club's young players; to enable the coaching staff to evaluate trialists in a competitive environment and to help ease injured players back to fitness.
Due to changes in the league's regulations the majority of reserve games will be played at the club's training ground. These matches will of course be free entry for Cheltenham Town supporters.
If a reserve team match is held here at the Abbey Business Stadium then all 2011-12 season ticket holders will have free admission into the game. Admission prices for non-season ticket holders will apply but these will be finalised ahead in the next week.
Cheltenham Town were members of the Football Combination for a number of years until former manager Martin Allen took the decision to withdraw from the league in 2009. The Robins even won the Football Combination championship under the management of John Ward in 2006 and over the years, first team players such as David Bird, Kyle Haynes, Theo Lewis and Andy Gallinagh have emerged from the second team.
