Long-serving forward player Damian Spencer joined Cheltenham Town from Bristol City in the summer of 2002.
A strong, powerful player who can play either through the middle or wide on the left, Damian began his career in the Isthmian League with Windsor & Eton but was soon picked up by Bristol City's Academy scouts.
He made a handful of appearances for the Ashton Gate club including one against Stoke City in the 2000 LDV Vans final at Wembley. Damian scored after going on as a substitute but his team finished on the losing side.
After a brief loan period at Exeter City Damian moved to Cheltenham Town and scored some spectacular goals during his first season with the club.
His impressive 'goals to starts' ratio earned Damian an extended contract in 2005 and during the promotion winning campaign of 2005-06, his role almost earned him the title of 'super sub', coming on as he did in so many games as an impact player against tiring defences.
During season 2006-2007 he answered the call to make a number of appearances in midfield and his boundless enthusiasm and non-stop running have made him a popular player with the Cheltenham Town supporters.
Season 2007-2008 was another typical roller coastercamapign from Damian. He scored some classic goals, albeit to infrequently, yet his enthusiasm is immeasurable and the effect he has on the crowd, his colleagues and moreover the opposition is second to none.
During the January 2008 transfer window Crewe Alexandra made an unexpected £150,000 bid for Damian but the deal fell through when he failed a medical. Damian underwent minor knee surgery towards the end of the season and hopes to be back early in season 2008-2009.
