When signing winger Brian Smikle from Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates completed his first new signing ahead of the 2010/11 season. Brian signed an initial one year contract but, after making 25 appearances, he signed a one year extension.

The 24-year old, who played for Mark Yates and Neil Howarth for three and a half seasons at Kidderminster, was a free agent and penned an initial one year contract with the Robins. Smikle is an exciting tricky player with pace, enthusiasm and plenty of endeavour. The winger was a firm favourite with Harriers' supporters.

A former West Bromwich Albion trainee, who had loan spells with Hereford United and Halifax Town prior to joining Kidderminster, Brian (more commonly known as 'Junior') was a member of the Harriers team that reached the FA Trophy final in 2007 and during the 2009/10 campaign made 43 League appearances in the BlueSquare Premier Division.

Junior scored his first goal in the red and white of Cheltenham Town in the 1-0 victory over Northampton Town. Smikle doubled that goal tally a few weeks later with the opener in a 4-2 win over Accrington Stanley.
