Michael is a central defender who joined Cheltenham Town in January 2005 from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He joined Wolves from school and spent three years as a Scholarship player at Molineux, during which time he played for the youth and reserve teams.
In his early years at Wolves he was coached by former Cheltenham Town manager John Ward and current boss Keith Downing, who were on the backroom staff at Molineux in those days. Ward beat off competition from other clubs to add Michael to his squad when he became available in December 2004.
Michael made his debut on the opening day of the 2005-06 season and was a regular member of the squad throughout the campaign.
After missing the start of the following season through injury, he returned to the side shortly before Christmas and retained a place alongside Shane Duff in the heart of defence for the rest of the campaign. His form in the second half of the season was a major factor in Cheltenham Town retaining their League One status.
Season 2007-2008 was a major frustration for both the player and supporters of Cheltenham Town. Michael was struck down with labyrinthitis, a condition which affects the inner ear and balance. He missed the final two thirds of the season with the problem but hopes to have made a full recovery ready for 2008-2009.
