Lee is a left-back who was signed at the start of July 2007 on a free transfer from Scunthorpe United.

He joined Scunthorpe, his home town club, straight from school as a trainee and made his debut towards the end of the 2000-2001 season, going on to establish himself as the first choice left-back during season 2004-2005.

However, injury hampered Lee's progress the following season and he was unable to win back a regular starting place, although he did make 18 League appearances season 2006-07 as the Iron stormed to the Coca-Cola League One championship. In all he made over 100 first team appearances during a seven year spell as a professional at Glanford Park.

Lee began the 2007-08 campaign as the first team left-back but lost his place when former Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers defender Alan Wright unexpectedly became available. As a consequence he joined Darlington on loan during November 2007 and later that season spent six months on loan at Lincoln City.

During the 2008/09 campaign Lee forced his way back into the first team plans of Cheltenham boss Martin Allen. Many excellent performances followed and added to this his ability to launch a devastatingly long throw-in towards the opposition box has seen him become a big favourite at the Abbey Business Stadium.
