Macclesfield scored a late winner this afternoon to keep the pressure on Cheltenham Town who will be disappointed to not take at least a point from Moss Rose.

It wasn't the best of games but the Robins looked the most likely to snatch a win until a Scott Brown fumble allowed an 88th minute Ben Wright strike to claim all three points.

Mark Yates made two changes to the squad that started out against Port Vale last weekend with Ashley Eastham and Josh Low both making their return here at Moss Rose. Ashley Eastham replaced Shane Duff who has a sore thigh and Josh Low replaced Danny Andrew at left back. Andrew missed out on the squad due to the five loan player limit. Scott Brown, who signed for the Robins for a second spell earlier this week, has been named on the substitutes bench.

12: Quiet start from both teams but Cheltenham have looked the more dangerous in attack.

17: First shot of the game went to Louis Almond who tried his luck from 20 yards but it was a tame strike that floated into the arms of Jon Brain.

20: Great individual work rate from Shaun Brisley who ran with the ball from his own half and unleashed a shot from 25 yards but the strike flew harmlessly over the bar.

23: Good attacking play from the Robins. Bird linked up well with Pook and Almond to deliver a cross from the right wing which found the right boot of Elito but the attempt was deflected wide off Brisley. The resulting corner gave Thornhill a chance at goal but his strike hit the side netting.

30 PENALTY SAVE: Macclesfield were given a penalty after Eastham fouled Ben Wright in the area but Lee Bell was unable to put his side ahead because of a great save from Brown who pushed the strike away with confidence.

32: Strike at goal from former Liverpool prospect Craig Lindfield. His 20 yard strike proved a comfortable catch for Brown though.

33 SUBSTITUTION: Macclesfield's Ross Draper was stretchered off and replaced by Vinny Mukendi.

44: Brilliant run from Medy Elito who put pressure on the Macclesfield defence with some clever dribbling. He could have perhaps shot earlier but the youngster forced a corner. Good wing play from Cheltenham.

52: Good midfield work from Michael Pook who delivered a good ball over to the left and to the feet of Elito. Medy set himself up for a shot but dragged the strike wide of the far post.

56: Sean Hessey provided a decent cross from the left wing which found the head of Mukendi but the effort was tame and Brown gathered comfortably.

58: Mukendi missed an absolute sitter from 2 yards. Ben Wright strode forward with the ball and his cross was pin point but the big Silkmen midfielder completely missed the opportunity.

60 SUBSTITUTION: Julian Alsop was brought on to replace Louis Almond.

64: Ben Wright must have been frustrated with his support today. The lone striker made a great run down the left only to be left with no options in the middle and the ball was eventually cleared from any danger.

67 SUBSTITUTION: Izak Reid was subbed on for Craig Lindfield.

68: Ambitious strike from Michael Townsend who attempted a shot from 25 yards - it went over.

75 SUBSTITUTION: Yates brought on David Hutton in favour of Dave Bird.

81 SUBSTITUTION: Barry Hayles came on for Justin Richards.

82: Good little run from Hutton provided Thornhill a chance to whip a shot in but his effort went wide of the near post.

85: Good spell of attacking football for Cheltenham who are causing Macclesfield a few problems. Elito and Low have played very well down the left today.

86 SUBSTITUTION: Matthew Tipton replaced Emile Sinclair.

88 GOAL: Big mistake from Scott Brown who dropped a seemingly comfortable save from Lee Bell. Ben Wright  put the ball away to give Macclesfield the lead.
