Cheltenham Town slipped to defeat today at the hands of Morecambe who proved to be a stern test for the Robins. Despite a much improved second half Cheltenham just couldn't find an equaliser and now will look to Tuesday night against Barnet to end their winless run.

The Robins had chosen to field a 4-3-3 side to counter Morecambe's similar line-up today with Joss Labadie coming into the squad to make his Cheltenham debut. Michael Pook also returned to the team in the midfield three while Theo Lewis and Ben Marshall joined Justin Richards up front.

Young goalkeeper Joe Perry and left back Josh Quaynor took up positions on the bench following Barry Richardson's suspension and an injury to Lee Ridley. Michael Townsend was also missing from the team due to a calf injury picked up last weekend against Lincoln.

Morecambe have now won three, drawn five and lost just once this season at Christie Park. Cheltenham will now look to end their eleven game winless run at home on Tuesday night.

4: First real attack of the game went to Morecambe, who pressed forward with Mullin leading the charge. Two low crosses were sent into the box but clearances from Josh Low and Kyle Haynes cleared the danger for Cheltenham.

8: Craig Stanley shot from outside the area but it curled wide. The referee later deemed his actions offside.

10: Pook's attempted clearance fell to Jevons but Brown was quick off his line and claimed the ball with ease.

14: Even game so far between the Shrimps and the Robins with most of the battle happening in the middle of the park.

17: Lovely burst of pace from Justin Richards through the middle but he was soon shown the door out of the area by the Morecambe defence.

19: Stanley's free-kick was sent into the box deep and looked dangerous but the Robins managed to scramble it out of the area and set up their own attack. Low stormed down the wing with the Robins going on the counter. Low flicked a cross into the box and Pook hit it on the volley but goalkeeper Barry Roach saved low down.

20: Another attack from Morecambe saw Jevons pull his shot just wide after slipping past Low and Gallinagh.

22: Kyle Haynes tried an ambitious strike from 20 yards out but Roach watched it fly wide into the travelling supporters.

23 GOAL: Laurence Wilson flew down the wing after a failed tackle from Marshall in Morecambe's own half. Once in Cheltenham's area the pacy left-back attempted a low cross into the box which took a small deflection off Gallinagh and into the back of the net.

30: Another attacking run down the right wing, this time by Michael Twiss who sent a ball into the box. Mullin connected with it but the shot was deflected off for a corner.

33: Cheltenham were playing well towards the front but their biggest fault was losing possession in midfield. Morecambe looked a good side in the first half with Mullin their biggest threat.

34: Michael Twiss launched a fiery shot at Scott Brown from 30 yards but the Robins' keeper palmed it out wide and Kyle Haynes picked up the pieces.

38: Craig Stanley fired a 20 yard freekick in at the Cheltenham goal but Scott Brown made a comfortable save in the end.

44: Lovely through ball by Labadie enabled Haynes to stretch his legs and fire a cross into the box. Unfortunately it was too low and the keeper saved comfortably.

Half time: Morecambe 1-0 Robins

46: Straight from kick-off Ben Marshall dribbled through the Shrimps midfield and attempted a long range shot but it drifted high and wide.

50: Superb run down the left from Low after being sent on his way by Pook. His cross was almost met by Richards but it was cleared by Morecambe for a corner.

54: Superb work from Pook and Marshall in the middle allowed Justin Richards to pick up a through ball on the right and his low cross beat the keeper but was cleared away for a corner by Morecambe. The Robins were now asking questions of the Morecambe defence.

56 Substitution: Michael Pook replaced by Julian Alsop and Lewis made way for Barry Hayles.

57: Hayles made an instant impact with some individual skill and a shot from his left boot. It drifted just wide but much better from the Robins.

58 Substitution: Neil Wainwright sent on by Sammy McIllroy to replace Ian Craney.

60: Some good tracking by Andy Gallinagh stopped Phil Jevons from being through on goal following a long ball down the middle.

63: A long cross from Bird following his throw almost met the head of Ben Marshall in the area but the Shrimbs scrambled it out for a corner. Cheltenham were turning up the pressure.

65: Hayles started to get stuck into the action. His pressure on Parrish sparked a little tantrum from the Morecambe defender.

67: Bird's freekick was blocked by the wall but his looping second attempt drifted into the back of the net. Unfortunately the goal didn't stand because Julian Alsop had fouled the keeper.

73: Wainwright's free-kick was sent in deep and Mullin met it with his head but Brown dived low to stop Morecambe from capitalising.

75 Substitution: Justin Richards brought off to be replaced by David Hutton.

77: Barry Hayles showed great control by bringing the ball down from a long pass and fired a left footed shot at Morecambe's goal from 20 yards out. Roach pulled off a fantastic save to deny Cheltenham an equaliser.

80: Some strong play by Mullin down the right and a clever pass into the box towards Jevons. However, the Shrimps striker could not capitalise and he pulled his shot wide of the far post.

84: Alsop won a freekick outside of the Morecambe area and Marshall stepped up to take it. However, the shot was wasted as it slammed into the Morecambe wall.

89 Substitution: The threateningPaul Mullin replaced by Wayne Curtis.

90 Booking: New loan signing Joss Labadie dived into a challenge on Garry Hunter and picked up the first yellow card of the game.
