Brighton & Hove Albion scored two late goals to turn the tables on Cheltenham and gain revenge for the Robins' victory at Whaddon Road earlier this month.
Cheltenham scored twice in injury time to win that one but Brighton struck in the 80th and 88th minutes to complete a cruel sequence of results at Withdean Stadium.
Cheltenham have now visited the athletics track six times and lost all six games so Brighton's move to their new stadium at Falmer cannot come soon enough.
The result was very harsh on the Robins, who matched Albion for most of the game until fading in the last 20 minutes.
Craig Armstrong was named in the starting line-up for the first time since returning to Cheltenham Town at the start of the month. Armstrong replaced the injured Alex Russell in central midfield and the rest of the team was the same as that which started Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hartlepool United.
Cheltenham made a dream start to the game with a goal after only three minutes. Brighton had started brightly with some early pressure but when midfielder Steven Thomson lost possession to Steven Gillespie just inside his own half, it gave the Cheltenham striker the chance to find Steve Brooker in a central position with a gap opening in front of him. Brooker was able to pick his spot and drove a right foot shot low inside goalkeeper Michel Kuipers' right-hand post.
Brighton responded and Dean Bowditch made a driving run from midfield but his low shot was gathered by Higgs; then right-back Andrew Whing smacked one over the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area.
Nicky Forster headed over the bar from a Dean Cox cross but Cheltenham looked dangerous on the break with Brooker and Gillespie combining well.
Jerry Gill sent a shot wide on a rare forage forward and Gillespie tried an opportunist effort that Kuipers got behind comfortably.
But it was Shane Higgs who came to the rescue on 23 minutes when he raced off his line to make a point-blank save from Nicky Forster after the striker had been sent clear by a pass from Thomson. The ball ran free to Glenn Murray but his shot was blocked on the line by Gill and hacked clear by Gavin Caines.
It was all-action stuff at that point and moments later, Gillespie found himself bearing down on goal but this time it was Kuipers who raced out to make a smart save.
Cheltenham played some nice passing football in the Brighton have during the spell leading up to half-time but the home side kept their shape well and the closest thing to a goal during this spell was a 25-year piledriver from Alan Wright that shaved the crossbar.
Brighton were unable to find much fluency but they did look capable of creating openings with some sharp passing and one such move resulted in a shot from Murray that hit the crossbar nine minutes before the break.
Brighton manager Dean Wilkins made a double substitution for the second half with Joel Lynch replacing Guy Butters in the centre of defence and Tom Fraser taking the place of Kerry Mayo in midfield.
The first chance of the second half fell to the Robins with Brooker displaying some close control on the edge of the box to create space for himself but the resulting shot went just over the bar.
Then, seven minutes into the second half, a piece of wayward defending by Lynch gave Gillespie a chance from the edge of the box but it seemed to take him by surprise and his shot was hurried and wide of the target.
The uncertain defending spread to the other end shortly afterwards when Wright made an uncharacteristic mistake allowing Forster in down the right-hand side. Forster's low cross found Murray in space 15 yards out but he mis-hit his shot and Higgs got down to hold.
All of a sudden Brighton seemed to have a spring in their step and when Murray met a cross from Forster with a firm volley, Higgs flew to his left to make a fine save.
Gillespie sent a couple of long-range shots wide for the Robins but Brighton had another good chance when Cox delivered an excellent cross from the left and Fraser rose highest but headed just wide.
Brighton had enjoyed a good spell of pressure, threatening strongly to get back on level terms and they finally did so 10 minutes from the end. A huge clearance from Kuipers found its way to Murray, who twised and turned away from Caines and Wright before hammering a shot past Higgs.
Then, with three minutes to go, disaster struck when a corner from Cox was headed out and Murray drove it back into the goalmouth. The shot was blocked but the ball ran free to Lynch, who poked it goalwards and Wright booted it clear.
Referee Fred Graham was unsighted but the assistant referee flagged for a goal. The Cheltenham players were enraged and surrounded the assistant, Gill eventually being booked for his protests.
