A virtuoso performance by Huddersfield Town striker Andy Booth condemned Cheltenham Town to their third home defeat this term.
The veteran front man registered a goal either side of half time in a comprehensive Terriers' display at Whaddon Road.
The Robins sole league success outside Gloucestershire came at the Galpharm Stadium earlier in the season, but they were second best throughout and never looked likely to record the double this afternoon.
The home side were not short of commitment and bluster, but they were far from their best and lacked the quality to undo a well-drilled outfit that looked as impressive as any that had visited Cheltenham this term.
Robins' boss Keith Downing kept faith with the side that defeated Luton Town eight days ago.
The sole change came with Ashley Vincent, recovered from a knee problem, replacing Adam Connolly on the bench.
It was a confident and coherent first half Huddersfield performance in which Cheltenham, who struggled with their passing game, failed to properly extend goalkeeper Matt Glennon.
Andy Holdsworth was the first player to find the target with a firm strike from 20 yards, but Shane Higgs comfortably gathered in the eighth minute.
Guy Madjo called Glennon into action a couple of minutes later after Steven Gillespie had guided Jerry Gill's centre into the path of the Cameroonian.
But it was Huddersfield who claimed the first goal of the afternoon after a poor piece of defending by the home side.
David Bird impeded Danny Schofield down the right channel and conceded a free-kick in the 14th minute.
Robbie Williams swung it in, but it was poor and cleared. The left back though was handed a second chance and picked out Booth, unmarked eight yards out who vollied over Higgs first time.
It was a poor goal to ship at such an early stage of the contest, but it could have been worse had Higgs not parried a Williams' long ranger a moment later.
Cheltenham were awarded a free-kick mid-way through the first period after David Mirfin infringed Dean Sinclair on the edge of the penalty area.
David Bird opted for a curler, but goalscorer Booth leapt in the defensive wall to apply a vital touch to deflect the ball over.
Andy Lindegaard took the flag kick, but it was cleared to safety.
The midfielder took a better one around the half hour and found Shane Duff at the far post but again Booth did enough to prevent the centre halve picking his spot.
At the other end, Higgs needed to be alert to Ronnie Wallwork piledriver from 40 yards.
The game began to open up and both Lindegaard and Malvin Kamara showed great pace before rolling tantalising balls beyond their opposition goalkeepers within minutes of each other.
A decent Robins' move comprising several passes culminated in David Bird chancing his luck from 20 yards as the half drew to a close, however his effort faded wide.
Cheltenham started the second half with far greater purpose and probed the Hudderfield defence with more intent.
Huddersfield, however were unlucky with a couple of strong penalty claims in the opening exchanges of the second period.
The first involved Alan Wright, who looked to prevent Booth meeting a delivery from the left with an apparent shove in the back three yards from goal but referee Mr Singh was unimpressed.
Next Spencer appeared to handle the ball inside his area and although the official was well-placed, the appeal fell on deaf ears.
Downing made the first switch of the afternoon, swapping Madjo with Ashley Vincent around the hour mark, but the striker's task grew in the 66th minute after the Terriers moved into a two-goal lead.
Again Andy Booth was at the centre of the move, taking down Glennon's long punt downfield and rolling it out to Schofield on the left.
The winger teased Gill before lifting an inch-perfect cross onto the head of the veteran striker, who planted his header into the top left-hand corner to give Higgs no chance.
Michael D'Agostino was given 20 minutes to create something on the right at the expense of Lindegaard but the late rally failed to materialise, which was testiment to the organisation of the Huddersfield defensive line.
However, there was a late opening when Gillespie ran onto a long ball by Sinclair and forced Glennon to chase off his line five minutes from time, but Vincent couldn't force the loose ball home from the edge of the penalty area.
