Rotherham United striker Adam Le Fondre is celebrating today after winning the inaugural npower League Two Player of the Month award.
Le Fondre has enjoyed a prolific August, scoring five times in just four games taking him to the top of the npower League Two scoring charts. Three of his goals came in the Millers' 6-4 victory over Cheltenham Town at the Don Valley Stadium.
Peter Beagrie, member of the npower Football League Player of the Month panel commented: " Le Fondre has a fantastic goal scoring record and is a natural finisher. He has many great qualities - fantastic movement, alertness in the box, coolness in one on one situations and is also a great team player. He has been the focal point in Rotherham's great start to the season."
Mark Clemmett, BBC Football League Show pundit and npower Football League panel member remarked: "Le Fondre is persistent and consistent"
Le Fondre beat off competition from Cheltenham Town striker Wesley Thomas, Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin and Torquay United's Mark Ellis to win the new npower League 2 Player of the Month trophy.
Le Fondre himself was overjoyed, saying: "It's great to win the npower League 2 Player of the Month award, it's full testament to the team's performance and myself. I'm really happy with the way I have played this month and long may it continue"
Meanwhile, Torquay United manager Paul Buckle has received the League Two manager of the month award for August as his team won all four of their League matches during the month.
