The league table doesn't count for much this early on in the season but the Robins will be aiming for ten points on the board by the end of Saturday afternoon writes James Brown.
A 2-1 victory over Burton Albion last weekend was hard fought but the Robins showed great character to fight back from being 1-0 down against a stubborn Brewers side. Peschisolido packed out his midfield but Cheltenham hit back following an inspired performance from substitute Shaun Jeffers.
Shaun was in the England U19's squad to play Slovakia last night and could be in line to make a start at the weekend. I think the Coventry loanee is a real gem and if he does start at the weekend then it may be worth backing him as the first goal scorer at a price of 7/1.
The Robins played out a 1-1 draw with Barnet at Underhill last season and it was Nottingham Forest's Matt Thornhill that opened the scoring for Cheltenham. A 1-1 draw this time around will fetch you odds of 11/2 but I'm not sure this game will be a draw myself.
Barnet will be tough opposition and they will pose a threat going forward but a clean sheet is surely just around the corner for Cheltenham and I'm going to back it to happen this weekend. A 2-0 Robins win is worth 9/1 at Coral and it's well worth a shot.
I said it last week and it didn't happen but I'm convinced Junior Smikle will get on the scoresheet soon. Junior, to score at any point during the game, is available at 4/1 and for those of you don't mind parting with a fiver, it could be a shrewd investment.
If you're feeling brave this weekend then I'm going to recommend a 300/1 bet. Frankie Artus to score first and Cheltenham to win 3-1 will give you those odds and a great end to your week. It's a long shot but always worth a pound in my opinion.
