Mark Yates speaking ahead of the weekend visit to Barnet's Underhill Stadium:
"Burton are a decent team and they came with a gameplan and for seventy or eighty minutes it worked. I urge the crowd to really back us when we aren't playing to our best because the boys will respond. They responded on Saturday and we scored a couple of good goals. We switched off against Rotherham and conceded goals but I'm happy we did that to someone else at the weekend.
"That result proves we have a good attitude and character. There will be times when things do go against you and you need to be able to figure out ways of solving those problems and my players did just that at the weekend.
"Marlon (Pack) literally arrived at the training ground this morning but he'll be fine and will settle in well. I've heard people saying that we have enough midfielders but, believe me, you can never have enough and he is something different to what we already have. Marlon will be a good asset for us and add competition.
"Every manager wants to improve the squad when things are going well and not have to do it out of necessity because of bad results. We're delighted to have Marlon here and he'll compliment us very well. He's strong, he's mobile, he can put his foot in and tackle but he can also pass the ball so it's a good move for us.
"Martin Riley (hamstring) won't be available for the weekend but he is progressing well. He trained Thursday and Friday last week and was desperate to be back with the boys. Ian Weston and I were convinced he would be okay but it didn't prove to be. He'll go through an intensive couple of weeks and hopefully we'll see him back in three weeks time.
"I signed Keith (Lowe) because he can play in a few positions and that is the case throughout the squad. I know Keith and I know he can do well wherever he slots in. We need to keep improving, working hard and if we do that then we'll be okay.
"The loan market is keeping things bubbling over at our level and I think that is needed. I said earlier in the week that I want to get a couple of my young boys out on loan and we're trying to move things on from now until the end of the week. I want them playing competitive football rather than sitting on my bench but I won't leave myself short.
"They all have potential so when they do play games for their loan clubs we will have people watching them and it's important they keep working hard. If Marley (Watkins) can go out and get two months competitive football then we would see a much improved Marley Watkins back here when he returns.
"Shaun (Jeffers) is going to be texting me later today and I'm going to be watching him in the England game tonight. I've just spoken to Coventry and we'll be extending his deal tomorrow. Aidy (Boothroyd) and I have a really good relationship and he is happy with the progress Shaun has been making. Shaun is a real handful and he is pushing for a first team start.
"He is still a young lad but his attitude is fantastic and that is a message for all my young boys. I'm sure he will force his way into our team and he has a strong possibility of starting for us at the weekend.
"We are four games in and you can't judge a team on where they are in the league table. Torquay have made an unbelievable start and deserve a lot of credit but there is nothing in it amongst the other teams. You'll be right up there with a couple of victories and you'll be right down in the bottom pack with a couple of defeats. Until you have played ten or twelve games you can't really read to much into league positions."
