Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates interviewed after the 6-4 defeat at Rotherham United:
"I was delighted with the first half but we shot ourselves in the foot and we've got to learn quickly. I'm delighted with the stuff we're playing but it means nothing if we don't defend better than we did today.
"I thought the penalty at the start of the second half was soft but it should not have affected the players in the way it did. We should have come out stronger to show that it was a bad decision but it affected us mentally and in the end that 10 minutes cost us the game.
"For me that was the pivotal moment because in the first half we were outstanding. The two goals they scored were great finishes but other than that the game plan worked a treat. We dominated and looked easily the better team. Then the penalty affected us in a negative way and we had a spell of 10 or 15 minutes that lost us the game.
"I don't think there is any doubt that we can play and that we have good footballing ability. We've just got to grow up quickly as a team and defend better as a team. We've got to get this one out of our system quickly and learn from it.
"I don't think many teams will be able to handle us if we continue to play how we did in the first half and against Crewe last week. We've got to find the right balance between playing the attacking football and not conceding at the other end. A lot of the time it's about making the right decisions. At 3-1 up with two minutes to go in the first half we had a chance to clear our lines and we decided to do something different. Ten seconds later the ball was in the back of our net so we have to learn to make better decisions at crucial times in certain areas of the pitch.
"Jeff Goulding just felt his groin during the first half so taking him off was the right thing to do and we'll assess him early next week."
