Trophy draw and rule change

Posted on: Mon 16 Aug 2010

As previously advised, Cheltenham Town have received a bye to the second round of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The second round matches have been scheduled for the week commencing October 5.

The first round draw was made on Saturday and the line-up of matches to be played in the week commencing August 30 is below.

This season clubs will once again be required to field a strong team in the competition, although there is a slight change to the rules. Clubs will be required to select in their starting 11 either six out of the 11 players who have made the most starting appearances in League and domestic cup competitions during the season (as before) OR six out of the 11 players who started the fixture immediately before or following the Johnstone's Paint Trophy match in question.

The change has been made to account for players who have returned from injury or, as has been Cheltenham Town's case for the past two seasons, clubs who have changed their team considerably during the course of a season.
