Mark Yates speaking to the media following the 3-2 victory over Crewe Alexandra:
"It was exciting, it was a little bit nervy at the end but if we had made better decisions then we would have killed them off earlier in the game. I'm pleased with the performance and I think the supporters have seen something they can get behind and get excited about.
"Their opening goal rocked us for about ten seconds but we then got a chance straight away. It was a great finish from their lad and there wasn't a great deal we could do about it apart from maybe get a little tighter. Crewe are a renowned passing side and they like to stroke it about but we did exactly that today. They had to change formations to match us but we were dominant in the first half and it was just a shame we didn't put the game to bed.
"Is there a partnership forming between Wesley and Jeff? Without a shadow of a doubt. They've played together before don't forget but they have a good understanding. I had a big decision with Shaun (Jeffers) after Tuesday and I was very, very tempted to start with him today but Wes and his two performances have warranted his start today.
"Their keeper has made a number of good saves today but fortunately Wes was there at times to finish it off. If you watch the second goal back then you'll see about seven passes in the build-up and it was a good finish.
"Martin (Riley) has tweaked his hamstring so we'll have to see how bad it is. We have got a policy that when they feel something then they let us know and Martin wasn't comfortable enough to carry on. Hopefully it's not as bad as first thought but Dave Bird and Keith Lowe were excellent.
"The performances have been good. You worry when performances aren't there but you're nicking points here and there. We've been decent in all three games and unlucky on Tuesday night but they have character as well as ability and I am pleased with today.
"We had to dig in near the end but that's life and sometimes you have to deal with that. We're far from the finished article but when we get the ball down like we did today then we will give teams a game."
