Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates interviewed after the amazing 6-5 win at Burton Albion:
"I wasn't pleased at all with the first half performance. We set out to have a game plan but that was over after about 90 seconds when they scored the first goal. We set out to contain and be tight at the back, as we have been pretty miuch since I've been here, but we didn't defend well, we gifted them goals and we made bad decisions defensively. At half-time we talked briefly, the players listened and there was a great response. I challenged them to dig themselves out of the hole they had got into and first 20 minutes of the second half they did that splendidly. We passed the ball well, we felt we could get at them but we didn't have a platform to build on. In the second half we did the right things for about 20 minutes and scored two good goals then a minute later we conceded and it was 3-2.
"It was a topsy turvy game and at 5-3 down with five minutes to go both managers are going to be fuming at certain things. Obviously I'm the one who has come away delighted with the three points and the victory. It was a mad game but there were some very good goals from our part. Credit to the boys because in the situation we find ourselves it would have been easy for them to fold. But they showed a bit of spirit after a few words had been said and maybe I've got to do that more often.
"We got the ball into good areas with quality, which we haven't been doing recently. We've lost the last two games 1-0 at home and created plenty of chances in both games but not with the sort of quality we would have liked. Today their keeper made two good saves before we scored and we got the ball into areas that people can score from. We had a bit of belief and a bit of luck. We've worked on finishing in training and it looks like we had better work on defending in training next week.
"Generally when we've been beaten it's been by the odd goal - apart from Rochdale who are a very good team - but today was very unlike us. Their front four and midfield two are decent and they got in behind us a few times. Our communication along the back line was poor and our decision making. The penalty was a soft one to give away but I felt that if we could go in at half-time 1-0 down it would have given us a bit of belief and we could come back and get a couple of goals.
"The boys have got to take all the credit for sticking in there and staying upbeat. It's a big three points but it is just three points. We're not going to get carried away and we're back in Monday. At half-time I was going to get them back in all day tomorrow but they can have a day off now and come back on Monday. You've got to enjoy the win and the goals that we scored. There are plenty of positives to take out of that second half. For example, Medy is very exciting when he gets the ball and there was a lot more end product from David Hutton. We can't think that we're done with one good result. We've got to go again and we'll get back to work on the positives and negatives from this game."
