Yates: We need a lift
Mark Yates speaks to the press following Cheltenham's 1-0 defeat to Burton Albion:
"We were the better team in the second half but you can't just give goals away like that because it gives people something to hang onto. We wanted to put them under pressure and create chances in the second period and I think we did that but we seem to have something against us at home at the moment.
"I'm not moaning at anyone but I think we really need a lift when we're back here at home. There is a lack of confidence here in front of our own fans which is disappointing. It shouldn't happen and I'm not excusing the players but we really need the supporters behind us in the next game against Morecambe.
"It was a decent game of football with two teams trying to play but we didn't deal with certain balls near our box and as soon as we hesitated they hit a 25 yard volley into the top corner.
"We responded well. I asked them to show some spirit and we got that. With a bit of luck we could have had the chances to go on and win the game. We had a good go but it didn't quite break for us.
"I felt in the last 20 minutes we had a few decent chances but we need to work harder, play better and we need to start doing that this Saturday. We weren't happy with our first half performance but I don't think they dominated. I thought we were much better in the second half but unfortunately we couldn't get that equaliser.
"In the three home games that I've been here it is obvious to see we are a different team here than we are away. The mental attitude and the willingness to be men is not quite happening at home and we need to sort that out as soon as possible."
