Cheltenham Town and the Cheltenham Youth Football League have linked up to offer match day experiences to aspiring young footballers in Gloucestershire.

All of the Cheltenham Youth League clubs have been offered the opportunity to experience a match day at the Abbey Business Stadium at a game of their choice.

The experience includes free tickets for the manager and assistant, discounted tickets of £2 for juniors and £10 for adults, match programmes, a ground tour and a chance to meet the players.

The offer has been designed to encourage young football fans to come and support their local football league team and enjoy a day out at the stadium as well as strengthening the partnership between the football club and the Cheltenham Youth League.

Cheltenham Town Chairman Paul Baker said "Cheltenham Town has always enjoyed an excellent relationship with local teams hosting numerous cup finals and introducing the 'Robins Sevens' competition some years ago enabling local players to play at Whaddon Road. We felt we needed a new initiative to develop closer links with all those involved in local football which is so important both in providing the opportunity for boys and girls to play football and for providing Cheltenham Town with players in the future. We have already been delighted with the positive response we have received".

Cheltenham Youth League Secretary Derren Brown said "We agree - it's an excellent idea! The Cheltenham Youth Football League already enjoys a great working relationship with the club as we hold all our Cup Finals and Meetings at Whaddon Road as well as the Robins 7s competition for under 11s on match days, and are always looking at other ways of support. Plus it's a great offer for our clubs. We have about 2,000 registered players in 130 teams playing in the league in all".
